Here at Nestera, we’re very proud of what we’ve achieved with our newest range of chicken coops. Borne of a combined passion for true sustainability, animal wellbeing and cutting-edge technology, our chicken coops are designed and manufactured by us in our UK workshop and constructed from 100% recycled plastic waste. Â
The recycled plastic itself is formed at the world’s largest ‘energy-from-waste' post-separating plant with sustainable biogas the by-product of the recycling process. Our largest chicken coop is made with the equivalent of 2,000 empty shampoo bottles – that's a lot of plastic being taken out of circulation! Â
Not only do Nestera coops flex some seriously green credentials, but our newest range has been given an overhaul to include a variety of upgrades and improvements to address persistent challenges like red mite prevention and effective ventilation. We were recently lucky enough to catch up with Lee Grant, Chair of the Poultry Club of Great Britain to show him our latest Nestera coops:Â
"I was really impressed to see the new line of Nestera chicken coops with a range of improvements and additional features.
Two of the most challenging issues for bird health are red mite and ventilation. We at the Poultry Club of Great Britain are reassured that the products Nestera use offer a robust red mite resistant coop with a good ventilation system that can be adjusted to suit the number of birds and weather.
Easy access makes cleaning much easier than traditional coops, saving chicken keepers a lot of effort and time to provide a clean environment, free from dirt and harmful gasses that can build up.
I particularly like the space under the raised house, as it provides a secure place for the chickens to eat and drink, as well as offering shade and shelter in extreme weather conditions.
It is important for chickens to spend some time outdoors to express their natural behaviours, which in turn can improve their overall health. The Nestera runs are ideal for allowing the birds to spend time outside the coop in a safe environment, free from predators.
An additional feature is that the coops are sustainably made in the UK from 100% recycled plastic waste, providing the confidence you are doing your bit for the environment."Â
We’re sure you’ll agree; that’s quite the seal of approval! You can explore our new range of sustainable, 100% recycled plastic chicken coops here. Â
